The Bay of Colwyn Promenade Day comes of age this year, with 2008 marking its 21st anniversary!
The event, in its current format, was developed in 1988. The purpose was simple: to place Colwyn Bay on the map and to attract tourists to the area. Organisers wanted to entice people so that they could see what a beautiful town Colwyn Bay can be as well as the surrounding area.
In its first year the event attracted approximately 20,000 people to what was a very small event based entirely on local businesses and charities. Prom Day can now attract up to 100,000 people from all over the UK, and have nationally recognised companies and organisations joining local businesses/charities in promoting themselves at the event.
Prom Day is now seen as the prime event throughout Wales & the North West of England on the May Day Bank Holiday Monday every year and we hope that we give everyone a day that you can all enjoy!
